On paper, it usually appears as a very dark violet that can almost look black in finer writing, while broader strokes reveal more of its purple-blue character. The ink has a noticeable shading effect, so the color changes within the same word, moving between lighter violet-blue and deeper midnight tones. In some lighting, a subtle coppery sheen can appear, but it is generally understated rather than dominant.
