The Pelikan Souverän M815 Metal Striped Black feels like a more refined and slightly more serious take on the classic Souverän design. At first glance it looks similar to the traditional striped Pelikan style, but instead of the usual translucent cellulose stripes, it uses palladium-plated brass stripes over a black resin base, which gives it a more solid, metallic look and a noticeable increase in weight.

That added weight is actually part of what makes it stand out. It feels more substantial in the hand compared to models like the M800 or M805, but still balanced enough for longer writing sessions. The pen keeps Pelikan’s well-known piston filling system and comes with a rhodium-coated 18k gold nib, which writes smoothly and has that slightly soft, wet Pelikan feel that many people enjoy.

This was released as a special edition in 2018, and it’s now discontinued, which is why it’s often seen as a collector’s piece. What really makes it appealing is that mix of classic Pelikan design with a more modern, metallic edge—it still feels traditional, but with just enough difference to make it stand out in a collection or as a daily writer with a bit more presence.
